Same as the heated rhetoric in the States about gun control and the argument there are too many guns on the streets, and the answer that it is not the guns who choose to kill people, but the people who pull the triggers. There is always two sides to any argument. Here in Australia we have gun control but anyone who really wants to acquire one will do so. There are frequent shootings and loss of life in gangland killings here as well. The old days of most of us and having both respect and fear of the local bobby walking the street went rapidly downhill when they started car patrols and a decline in a visual police presence even though it wasn't armed as such. Loss of respect for the rule of law has a lot to blame for the decline of law and order, and the penaltys are paltry on any conviction. Personally myself if I lived in some of these volatile neighbourhoods in the states, and soon to be in other parts, I would be more comfortable having the right to bear arms. JWS

We have quite stringent gun laws here in Uk, I uesed to do a lot of rough shooting, and held a shotgun licence, this involved an annual visit from plod to inspect my gun cabinet, and where I kept the cartridges, also whose land I had permission to shoot over. A lot of land I shot over was requested by the farmer as he had a problem with rabbits or pigeons etc, so I could not always give them a complete list. In the end the hazzle to me was not worth it and I gave up my licence. Despite these laws it seems we have a large amount of unlicensed guns around, mainly in crime, kt

#11. Having sailed with and have friends ashore, and dare say even family of a different mind set than myself, I do not consider myself homophobic and cant say I have ever met a seaman who was. However when you get into other peoples heads there are numerous homophobic tendencys if of a different religious mind set. Apart from being just plain nuts. A country like the US which seems to have a large proportion of all the world eccentrics it having such a larger population than others, is always going to have problems. They also have the death penalty in different states. However the crimes being committed are such that one doesn't expect there to be a prisoner to arrest, this is obviously the best outcome, and the felon already knows this when he chooses his course of action, they are all nutters in any case all those who want to take others lives for whatever cause. John, As i posted a few days before this terrible event, My old man always said never judge a person by there sexuality take a closer look at there religious ideology. But i fully agree with J Pruden if you cant change the second amendment in the U.S.A. The right to bare arms, Take the automatic weapons that can let off up to 50 rounds in seconds of the shelf, At least you give a lot more of would be victims a chance of saving themselves.

Gulliver you are right there mate. When modern man still holds such views one must question just where are we headed? But not just the Mossies hold the view about the gay society. Friend of ours is of the Latter Days Saints church, some times called the Mormons. Many within that church hold similar views on gays.
    Happy daze John in Oz.
