Olympic Games

As we rapidly approach the time once again of the Olympic Games once again also will be all the arguments and choice of venue for the next ones. To me the shine went off the games when the vast amounts of money was thrown at the massive costs that were thrown at it with the hopes of rich rewards. Athletes at one time competed for the honour, now it is mainly for wealth. Brazil in itself most of its citizens live in third world conditions and yet it can still afford to throw millions at. To me the Olympics if anything should be held at the same venue every time they are held, which should be Greece where they originated. This at least would give them some input from the tourist trade, myself I would not pay the exorbidant prices some do for the privilege of watching a bunch of athletes who have to be tested for cheating before and after events. With all the talk about the zika virus from hundreds of medical scientists, and now the UN health authorities changing it's stance; I think it will be a disaster if they go ahead, already some athletes are pulling out; and as for anyone who goes there as a spectator well I hope they realize what they are in for not only the virus but the protests from the people.

My Uncle Ted Aspinall was in the Olympic Games in 1908 in London, as a Gymnast, he also taught me later when he was an instructor at the Lads Club.
He was informed that he had been chosen to represent England, Be there.
No expenses, no hotels no travel arrangements.
He and another performer walked to London, sleeping rough with a bag full of Jam Butties and a bottle of water.
They performed and then walked all the way back. Over 400 Miles there and back. Then he was sacked from his job as a Cotton Spinner as he was away for two weeks instead of one.
He always said he was glad the Games were not in Tokyo.
They don't know they are born today, I say they don't know they are born.

Could hold a separate economic migrants Olympics there, first three in every event get a visa, the rest go home like every other visitor

He didn't travel like Joe Zuma president of Africa then I just got an email from a mate, this is the way he spends the money they collect in Europe for the poor in South Africa. It cost over $400 million

JWS have been saying that for years now. They should be held always in Greece the home of the games. Just that it would mean not as many parasites could get on board the gravy train and make their fortunes at the expense of others. To be honest have lost all interest in sports now that about every bloody player now has an agent to manage them.

Sportsmen, can I say men, are the most overated and overpaid entertainers on the planet. Heard of one footballer in Europe being transferred for some $40 million of whixch he gets 10% . Bit like polis, all overpaid and as useful as the proverbial on a bull.
