Re: Is Thomas the tank engine rascist
Re Number 1.
A long time ago at the start of a journey, the footplate men of both the CORINATION SCOT and the FYING SCOTSMAN would have had fresh WHITE complexions. At the end of a journey from Scotland to London vice versa, their fresh WHITE complexions would have been turned into filthy BLACK complexions owing to hard work, heat, sweat and soot. There is nothing racial about this, as these are true facts. My advice to that very dark gentleman is, that he should sod off as we don't want his type upsetting true Brits such as myself.
FOURO.

Re: Is Thomas the tank engine rascist
Dangling from the rear view mirror in my car is a fabric Gillywig, purchased from an Asian market stall locally. It's been swinging there for quite some time and has attracted some amusing comments, some of which were from the black or Asian community. It is probably racist, and my good lady suggests I remove it in case some extreme race- card holder spots it parked and trashes the car, or worse, a local bobby has me arrested and thrown in the slammer for offending public decency. As I always obey her indoors, I shall probably remove the offending object and give him his freedom.

Re: Is Thomas the tank engine rascist
I grew up with Bah Bah Black sheep, Robinson's ********.
There was one black kid in my town, we didn't treat him any different to anyone else. Unfortunately he followed the path of some of his brothers...
I worked with a black guy who introduced himself as Sooty, I didn't see it as racist nor did he. HR department said I couldn't call him Sooty as that was racist. He told the HR lady to go forth and multiply as HE had told people his [nick] name and wanted to be called that. She is probably still being treated for her stress!
Its the minority and those who think they represent the minority that are the issue. Most blacks/Asians/Joe Bloggs race/******s/gays/people with 2 heads/etc.fit in perfectly well, do their job well and get along with their colleagues and no one gives it a second thought because they don't force their beliefs/sexuality/religion on others.
The trouble makers however are a different game...
Treat everyone as you want to be treated. If they accept it and respond the same then great, if not you know you did your best to accommodate them.
Pour the RUM!

Whats with the *****?!
Am I being censored? NOT good.
I understand if a moderator changes my post or if someone complains about words I've used but to do it automatically isn't right.

Re: Is Thomas the tank engine rascist
In Cape Town we had a fireman from Liverpool, he was very black, and he answered to Chalkie, and a real Scouse.
we were there for three months and he was Not happy, in 1976.
The Captain got the Immigration down and Chalkie was given a Pass saying he was an Honoury white man,.
So he could come ashore with the crowd.
In the Heerangrat* Hotel top floor bar and restaurant,. he got more white women than any of the crowd, They all took advantage off his Pass.
