Maybe he should consider asking some other countries, Oz, NZ, SA etc ones you traded with many years ago if they are willing to come back to the fold. Then and only then can he decide what is the best policy.
But the scary thing is if the people vote OUT, I am sure the gov will say thta as it is less than 50% of the population it does not count.
This is maybe a time when compulsory voting may help your cause.

Whatever one says about the EU most of which is new to me, as I lived there until 1991 was always under the impression was a free trade area which to my mind lessened the burden of import and export taxes to the manufacturer and consignee. I was always working up until left the UK so really didn't take much notice of the political side of things unless they affected me. What I am against is the EU parliament and wonder where they got the influence to tell other countries what they could and couldn't do. This to me is a question of sovereignty and always has been, which I see the media is now pushing belatedly as usual. They couldnt catch a cold, and is usually history they push out and not news. Who voted for a European Parliament I cannot ever remember the subject ever coming up to tell the truth, was it just our illustrious politicians doing it off their own bat? NATO like the UN is not thta much good. The laws they pass are only as good as they are policed, which is not very often and so many countriues take little notice of them anyway.
Our gov here has now put a ban on imported Italian tinned tomatoes as they say the subsidy paid by the Italian gov is doing our farmers harm. Taken a long bloody time to come up with thta one.
I watch question time on BBC (very left wing) and over the past few weeks it as featured the question of go or stay.
A few weeks ago the Sin Fienn representative moaned that leaving the EU would cause harm to N.I. because the EU funds would be cut off. Three members of the panel agreed, only the DUP member disagreed, quoting that it was the UK's money that we got back and more could/ would be shared as we would not have to pay the EU.
Some other guy thought we should remain in the EU as he didn't have to change his money when going to an EU country, when did we give up the pound?
Last night, program was from Wales, same ****, from the panel, Wales would lose out if we left the EU as the funding would be cut.
Obviously the EU aided and abetted by disingenuous MP's from all parties has succeeded in brainwashing some of the great unwashed, I despair.
