Sometimes modern life confuses me

Not so much of a problem here in Oz. We have a rubbish bin which takes all manner of rubbish and a recycling bin which takes all manner of rubbish. None of this taking it to the bottle bank, but some councils are a bit odd. One said that the local land fill was filling tool fast so to reduce the amount of rubbish going into it they will only collect every two weeks????????????????? That is rubbish speak I fear. Plastic bags from the supermarket are used as kitchen bin liners so they go to land fill.
In Ireland it is illegal to put any rubbish in the bin that is not wrapped. The people used the plastic shopping bags for this purpose. A guy walks in front of the truck and if any rubbish is not wrapped the bin is not emptied and a fine imposed. Then the gov banned the plastic bag, so the number of bin liners now bought has gone up by about 1000% Clever stuff that, get rid of one bag in favour of another. Bit like getting rid of an old wife for a new one maybe????????

#11, John when I lived Co. Wicklow there were no council rates, therefore no personalized refuge collection, or pot holes filled etc etc, you went to the dump yourself. The local authority did provide a communal bin at certain areas on the road side. Michael my odd job man was leaving one day and I asked him if he wouldn't mind dropping off a couple of bags when he passed this bin.'Sure no problem at all' says he. A week later an irate farmer telephoned the house [cussing is putting it mildly!] he'd got my number from my mail in amongst the rubbish bags which Michael had thrown over his hedge....:rolleyes:

Confusing today? When we grew up it was men, women, boys and girls. Today's thirteen year olds have 25 gender options to choose from when completing a survey.
