Why one may ask were all goods, presents etc wrapped in brown paper in those days. No sense of adventure or originality then??

65 years ago that was probably all the paper available. Don't forget Fish and Chips were in a newspaper. Would not be allowed today as considered unsanitary. Some people even cleaned their teeth with soot out of the chimney, toothpaste being a luxury also. We seem to forget by past standards we are today living in Nirvana. Grandmas lyesoap was alive and doing well. We were posh and used table salt in water when no toothepaste available. JS
