Re: Climate Change
#48... What time of year Dennis. Who knows may of been on same flight. I went London to Montreal where went through Immigration, and then a flight to Halifax. Similar to Australia if come in as an immigrant receive nothing from government. Maybe that's why they come in illegally as are looked after. I have never had any handouts from Australia, in fact had to sign a paper I would not be a burden on the State, I had no job to come to either. I would rather see a country take an attitude like that, than be considered a pushover for every dead beat going. I am afraid some of the stories of the pitiful condition of some of these refugees, and then you see them as well fed and robust and turning their nose up to the living conditions offered them, just leaves me cold. I would of been grateful if offered to me in Australia and would have tried to pay back. Maybe some of them mean to do this by a few well planted presents in years to come. Cheers JS

Re: Climate Change
Hi John,London to Vancouver July 10-67.
Came over on an old DC8, took 16 hours.
First stop Winnipeg, better known in Canada as Winterpeg.
Went through first emigration check there, then on to Vancouver for more.
Wife had an Irish passport which raised an alarm.
Believe it or not.
Her picture was posted in case anyone could confirm her affiliation with the IRA.
I used to threaten her with deportation. Ha ha.

Re: Climate Change
Climate change is the new religion.
I watch BBC news Dennis Shukman, is a joke for a science editor. He posed a picture a few months ago in front of a glacier, the glacier was calving, he suggested that that the ice dropping of the front was due to global warming, when in fact is due to the glacier growing due to freezing conditions behind.
The majority of personnel on the UN climate change panel are administrators and know very little about climate change or for that matter anything else.
The UK contributes nearly £15b each year to poorer countries, how much more will we now give on spurious info?
Regards
Vic

Re: Climate Change
If we have global warming, why have I had my gas central heating on for most of the summer,
at the moment my gas boiler is doing 18 knots round the kitchen.
My Birthday this year was on 21, June. Midsummers day. when the sun is at its highest of the year. My garden party was cancelled, it was very cold, and 36 guests were squashed up inside the house.
I don't believe it.!

Re: Climate Change
Pleased about the clean air act as will be a life saver to many with breathing complaints. Whether this will have any effect on what they call climate change however will never be known. If there is no change they will insist it was too little too late, and if the climate does change through natural cyclation of the earth in general, they will claim the success of. What they have created is a big hole in a lot of economys which will effect a lot of people. Is the usual mass hysteria created by a few, Hitler and the likes had this talent for being able to do. Re: Climate Change
Bit off topic, but found interesting.Oklahoma police officer found guilty of thirteen counts of rape against African American females.
Sentenced to 200 years in jail.
I am sure the 'brothers' will give him a warm welcome.
Could almost feel sorry for him. Guess he will repent his ways very quickly.

Re: Climate Change
Denis believe you were in the catering Dept. My recollections of such in British ships as mate, used to make a habit of going to see the Ch. Stwd. every morning about 10-30 to have a cup of tea or a beer if he was shoving the boat out. The cook used to show his face about the same time to discuss his following days menus. I found this the most informative place on a ship, as the galley radio myth is in fact not a myth but the truth, and learned more what was happening on the ship than could find out elsewhere. Depending on the mood of the ch.stwd the can of ale used to multiply in some cases and used to stagger out at 1200 hrs, the cook was ok as the second cook knew where he was and could cope. Those days what I can gather would not be productive to anyone these days as what I have seen they in some cases don't have a chief steward and in a lot of cases not even a cook. Different generations and different people, and different ships. Cheers JS

Re: Climate Change
Very true.
Recall being involved in the odd meeting.
The galley was indeed the hub of information on board.
Regarding my previous post.
Forgot to mention that the police officer was white.
