What were the gross and net of the passenger ships you were on Brian. Wont ask their deadweight unless in wartime doubt if they were ever down to their marks. Cheers JS

#12... All tonnages referring to cubic measurements and nothing to do with weight. Apart from Gross and Net the press could if they had the nous follow up as regards with cargo vessels as to quote their loaded displacement and thus make the vessel appear larger again. Wonder how may people they pay as shipping experts. Doubt if there is an expert in anything amongst the lot of them, apart from scandal. Cheers JS

Press and TV Shipping experts!, if its not a passenger ship, it must be a tanker. Also every shipping disaster causes irrepairable damage to the environment and wildlife, no mention of the seamen who lost their lives or livliehood

Ivan when I read some of the newspaper reports about certain items, my mind always goes back to that old Radio Show, When Ignorance is Bliss, and The following line, It is folly to be Wise. As for Brians view on the BBC we have the same here with the ABC. Time was when a newsreader was paid to read the news and not give out their personal views on. They must have changed the job description of their duties. Cheers JS
