Many years ago, when the children were youngsters, I planted a facetious as a single seed. It was watered, nurtured and covered in the finest manure a horse could produce. I stood back proudly waiting for a riot of colour to emerge from my endeavours. In all the years I cared for this beauty, making sure it had the correct amount of sunshine and shade, not one single potato did it grow.

It's not the houses as ours out here are so different, but the gardens, I go outside with all good intentions, then I look around at the dryness and come back inside get changed and take Betty up the club.

Come to Oz the land of droughts and flooding rain. Got rid of all my grass and replaced it with stones, paver and plant that do not need a lot of water. Still have my roses though, 15 fruit trees and a 25 sq mt veg patch, self sufficient for nine months of the year

Seriously though talking about flooding rain, was in Sydney in the early Fifties and it must have poured for a couple of months,
we were stuck there all this time as the dock workers wouldn't work in the rain, the area was flooded and I believe at the time
about 2 million sheep were drowned, I used to be asked when returning home would I like to go to Australia (several crew members
were jumping ship at that time) my answer was No Way, that place was either on fire or flooded out, I'll stay here where you get
4 seasons in one week, that way life doesn't get boring, something different every day. F.
