Anyone have any memories of this once great watering hole, Being born on paddys day 17th March I can remember them serving up green guinness on draught I am sure Jim Brady will have many memories of a once great institution in Mount Pleasant Liverpool. any other seaman from around the country had a night out here sadly another one bites the dust Terry.

Yes Terry had many a drink in the Irish Centre,also visited there on a couple of St.Patrick days atmosphere unbelievable.I haven't been into Liverpool on the 17th for a couple of years now that is one good day out.Ashame about the Irish Centre what will happen to it I don't know it is a great building.

Jim, I wonder is it a listed building its that old, But then again so was the International, The Royal, And the Caradoc, I remember a pint that I only ever saw on draught in the International { TOBY LIGHT } Everyone I mention or meet from the days of the Inti, Remembers that great brew. Terry

I think it says in the article the building is listed Terry.John Pruden once put a picture of the Marconi school in Seaforth on here,if you look at that picture then look at the Royal as it is today it is the same building with the extention on the right hand side,those two nice parlours.I read somewhere that one of the R.O.'s on the Titanic trained at the Marconi school Seaforth.
Terry talking of pubs closing down we had ten in Seaforth now we have two.

In a straight line it is only 178 miles from Liverpool to London yet it might as well be 1000.
If this beautiful building with all it's archaeological features came on the market in London property developers and speculators from all over the world would be fighting to buy it. It is in Liverpool so left to rot. The north / south divide grows wider every day.

The Irish Centre was previously known as The Wellington Rooms. Owned by the Sisters of Notre Dame (opposite at Mount Pleasant). I can remember it was used for School Plays. Eventually, we were allowed to have a Sixth Form Dance there. (1962) Obviously no alcohol ! Those were the days !!
Beautiful building with 'Wedgwood' friezes around the ceilings. I suppose it must have cost a lot of money to keep it in good repair.
Not a lot of call now for this type of edifice. I bet it just rots until it either falls down or has to be demolished.

I always have a love for Liverpool even during the war i was to young to go into the pubs but it was the guts of the people during the bombing .
When i came home in 1945 it was a very sorry sight i thought but that soon changed .
When i went back to Liverpool in 2013 for the Battle of the Atlantic anniversary i was amazed at the change it was really great

Jim, When you say 10 pubs are we talking pubs and clubs because I make it a few more than your 10, Terry.
