Re: State pension
You mention China there cappy did you know they have now moved up to fourth position (one above UK) for the richest countries in the world. It is expected in not to many years that China will be the richest country in the world.Unfortunately for the people the wealth is held by just 1% of the population.

Re: State pension
my best buddy does business in china he has offices there ....the poverty outside the major cities is of the same ilk as england in the middle ages....the fact that the people are still working for a handful of rice proves my point .......a bigger population here and we would be working for a handful of rice ......i believe although you are a conservative......economics is perhaps one of your weaker subjects and you leave it to the dear mrs brady....regards cappy

Re: State pension
I suppose it could be said that i am on benefit, ie Old age Pension, free bus pass, winter fuel allowance, i am not wealthy, and on a fairly small pension, but the one thing it gives me is huge satisfaction, that i do not owe a soul anything, and for that i have huge peace of mind. I do however feel for the up coming generations who will not have it so good as we have in the past, for them the outlook generally is bleak,, KT

Re: State pension
China a few years back tried to do something about population growth by restricting family and births. This went totally against the human rights brigade, and yet in Africa are still trying to teach them birth control and nothing said. I am of the old school if you have children you are responsible for them and not others. JS

Re: State pension
Jim I can see your point about large families and yes it is good if it works, sadly here are now too many not paying their fair share and getting too much in benefits.

#27... Just reread your post Charlie about paying your UK pension in every 3 months. I get mine paid in every 4 weeks. If I could enforce them to pay it every week I would, just to be awkward. JS

John, we get ours every two weeks and it goes via the Missing Link so they can adjust our state pension accordingly.

Re: State pension
Get the NHI pension every 4 weeks and they adjust the Oz pension by the rate of exchange pound to dollar. However still manage to pay over a thousand Bucks every year to the tax man, plus the accountants fees. Don't care anymore as still can survive pretty well off the fat of the land, plus my own. Don't know how they (UK) decide at what intervals to pay the NHI pension. The Australian state pension being paid every fortnight. Other pension being paid per Calendar month.
