    Default The Graveyard Watch

They say most deaths occur about 2 or 3 in the morning. Maybe this should be under Safety. A large majority of ships nowadays are ploughing the oceans of the world with only 1 man on the bridge at these times, imagine the possibilities of disaster, in such an occasion, helmsman these no longer exist and lookouts, due to shortage of manpower either. This is another factor where safety is overlooked, it may be written down that a lookout should be kept at all times to cover the backs of those who decide on paper manning scales, but do nothing to solve the problem. I usually get my 8 hours between 11pm and 7am so 2 to 3 doesn't worry me as I'll be asleep!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!F.

Doctors will now tell you that 8 hours is too long. Persons who only get 6 hours per night tend to live longer than those who get 8.

Hi shipmates, this post reminds me of something. I read a while ago many women die on the toilet at night? I was a member of the Railway club back a few years ago {long gone} Three women passed away in the ladys in one night? it that a record, or Normal on a club night? the Ambulance crew had loads of work in them days? Clubs were full back then the beer was cheaper.
