Re: Why now
The rise of UKIP has made all the main parties and smell the coffee.
Uncontrolled immigration is now the major concern of the average Brit in the streets. It is putting unsustainable pressure on the NHS, Housing, Schooling and the Benefits system.
In the 60's a politician called Enoch Powell made his famous "Rivers of Blood" speech and was mocked and driven out of Parliament over it. He was speaking about immigration from the Indian sub continent, remember the stories of boat loads of illegal immigrants landing on South Coast Beaches?
At that time we could control immigration to a certain extent but since being led blindfolded into the EEC in the 70's by the laughing cavalier Heath and with subsequent governments being led by the nose into signing up to European Union dictates, our good friend one T. Blair being one of the worst offenders, we now have no control over our borders.
UKIP are gaining their popularity on their main aim which is to take us out of Europe but I am still undecided as to whether that is in our best interests regarding trade and financial considerations. To me the best way would be to stay in Europe but reform it back to original concept of a free trading area. Until that can be done or until we actually leave Europe, the best way we can suppress this uncontrolled immigration is to make the U.K. an unattractive place for them to come to by denying them automatic rights to housing, health and benefits.

Re: Why now
They come for the Benefit system,
Give them Nothing at all.
I get Not one penny in Benefits, I have to pay Tax on my miserable Pension to give away to these international Bums.
My once des res avenue is full of overseas `guests, all with big families and all on benefits and no one working.
My neighbour, "Heyyou" laughs at me, new Mercedes last year along with his new Toyota, new Gas central heating boilers and new radiators, because he has a "bad back". I can get NOTHING. I can barely afford to keep my ten year old Kia on the road.
50 years of hard work, paying taxes and NI stamps, For what.
I would be better off going to Calais and smuggling myself back into England as a foreigner and then I could have a slice of what I have been paying into.
Cheers
Brian

Re: Why now
Beware of prophets from afar.
Vote for UKIP by all means but be very careful. You may well end up with a situation where no party has a majority, what then, Labour joining up with UKIP, or worse still Greens to form a majority?
Bettre the devil you know!

Happy daze John in Oz.

Re: Why now
The big difference between politicians regardless of them being left right or centre as the media would have, is that the likes of Cameron is trying to appease everyone by being politically correct in all instances, and finishes up pleasing no one, particularly his own countrymen. The likes of Putin puts his own countryman first as regards sovereignty and all others second if he at all considers them at all. In this he gets more backing than any western politician will ever get, from his own people. Hitler rose to power on the same national fervour of so called national pride. Whether right or wrong is left up to the individual, however the west has it crammed down its neck continuously by minor groups of people who want to change human nature immediately. Some of us go to football matches and go berserk when their national team lose, why I don't know as chances are their team will have only a couple of national players in any case, and is another way of wealth attainment and not really representative of that country. The trouble in the world today has mainly always been there in one form or another, but now due to the power and ease of communications is being brought to other populations attention regularly. This political correctness should be eased back on for starters as has brought out some of the worse in people, and has certainly eroded the values of a lot of national communities by giving aid to every Tom Dick and Harry, all this at the expense of those who have to pay exorbidant taxes to pay for. I am a strong believer in National borders and therefore do not agree with the EU, more so that not so long back they were the enemy in a so called fight to the death. Everyone on this site will have different views, the first and main one in my reckoning is look after your own first last and foremost. If this politically incorrect, tuff titty. JS
