Re: Gruesome!
On the Beaverpine after a trip round the Caribbean the gay saloon steward was travelling home on the train with his proud artefact brought in Port Au Prince. He had been assured it was a genuine voodoo statue but as he had brought it off the bum boat and it was riddled with termites, I somehow doubt that it was a genuine artefact.
He got talking to the other occupant in this carriage, a middle aged lady who he described as "more butch than a butcher's block"...a genuine artefact in 1971

Re: Gruesome!
Palermo Sicily in the Catacombs there are skeltons hanging still in the clothes they wore when they died, some as old as 300 years. The locals had found a way of enbalming the bodies so when the flesh rotted away the bones remained intact. There is in a glass case the body of a 6 year old girl and the setting is named 'Sleeping Beauty'. She dies in the 1920's and her father a doctor found a way of preserving the body so even today she looks the same as when she passed. Modern scientists still have a problem in establishing how he did it.

Re: Gruesome!
#16, Speaking of which Doc, I am awaiting delivery of Billy Monks book of
photography! I'll send you my opinion after it arrives
An an aside I also ordered what I wrongly presumed was his biography written by Hal Brent Johnsen. The most inane drivel I've ever had the misfortune to read. Tempted to return under the Trade Description Act....
