I have solar panels on my roof and they are excellent at times during the year, great production late spring and summer early autumn not so good at othet times when the sun is low in the sky. But no matter how hard I try the bloody things will not work at night.

Solar power is actively been researched for the marine industry and I recall seeing on gcaptain an article where the Japanese are actually building a prototype ship that uses solar power for propulsion, which when you think about it is a pretty nifty way of reducing emissions from ships, if only to replace the energy provided by the ships generators for hotel and navigation equipment.

What are you going to do about traction? What's going to happen to the surface of the Solar Roadways when it rains
How much weight can these panels support? Semi-trucks get pretty heavy!
Why don't you start with something easier like sidewalks, driveways or parking lots before installing roads?
How can a Solar Roadway pay for itself? How can it generate revenue?
Would you have to rip up perfectly good roads and parking lots to install your system?
If a parking lot is full of cars or a highway has lots of traffic, how are they going to produce any energy?
These panels must be valuable. What's to keep people from stealing them for home use?

Why don't you just do projects where it doesn't snow and you won't have to worry about how much energy the heaters use?

Don't solar cells produce DC energy? How does a home or business use this?

on, the systems are good if you are at home all day and using alot of power. The rebates now are as low as 5cents for power put back into the grid, I still get 66cents as mine was installed before the cuts came in. The gov rebates can be a bit of a con so be wary of whom you deal with. If you pay say $3,000 which is what yoy need to run the average house it could take up to five years to get your inital outlay back.
