I did all my ' Tickets, steam and motor, there. In those days the Marine Engineering School was without any doubt the best in the UK, the highest pass rates in the shortest time of all the other schools in the land. Mr Heath ( better known as Ted ) ran the department with the aid of some very competent tutors who just loved their jobs. Most of the students had lodgings on Anlaby Road -- huge Georgian style houses owned by elderly widows who needed to take in Lodgers in order to pay their way -- they were second mothers to us all. They liked to boast that 'my' students had the best pass rate of any other boarding house. I just loved the place !! Regards Peter in NZ.
