Apologies, the dog next door took hold of my arm yesterday and just a little fang puncture but this morning I took myself off to the Katoomba hospital for a anti tetanus jab and waited and waited ..... Got home at 5pm. Can't blame the dog - they are our good neighbours for 24 years living in Sydney but coming up here on weekends and holidays. I was leaning over the fence giving her a kiss on the cheek (as good neighbours are wont to do) on her arrival for Easter and the bleddy new dog took umbrage.
Back to the pacific Pacific. Jim, you are very close. If you drew two arm of a V from Nuku'alofa you would snare both pictures. Not Kiribati John C but Tuvalu is quite close. The main Clues are in (pic 1) once the capital of a colony and (pic 2) "Rain" put this place on the map.
I'm off to watch the beginning of a new series o that lovely British movie on Telly The Midwives in Poplar London.

Fiji was a wild place in the mid 1800s and I cannot do better than to give you an all telling link about the original capital Levuka on the Island of Ovalau. The first picture I took of Levuka in the mid 60s. I was secretary of the annual Suva Levuka Launch race and my boat was the Volasi(n)ga. 'Morning Star'.

The other picture is of similar vintage and is of the Japanese tuna freezing wharf and plant directly opposite the township of Pa(n)go Pa(n)go, on the island of Tuitila in American Samoa. Somerset Maugham wrote "Miss Thompson" that great story of which a film was made - "Rain" staring Rita Hayworth.

Now Richard when you added those extended awnings to your pride and joy, did you carry out any inclination and stability tests. Must say they look like a bluddy good idea.
must say richard your pictures are very interesting as always...did you build up the accom or was it built like that ....she does look a bit high up top ....but certainly a smart looking craft.....as for fiji think it one of the most interesting places i ever set foot on.......should have skinned out there.....lol cappy
