    Default British invasion

The first known Englishman in Australia was Captian Cook, he did not captain a cricket team, in 1780 claiming it for the British crown.

Then in 1788 the highest judges in the land began a process of selecting people to populate the country. That went on until the mid 1880's.

It was quiet then for some time until after WW2 then it began again with the 'Two Pound Poms' arriving in their droves.

This continued until the early 1970's when it was considered that there were maybe enough of them here. 1964 with the arrival of the Beattles had a profound effect on not only music but on the population of the day. Thye liked the country so much they even wrote a song about us, 'PaperBark writer'. For the benifit of those who do not know Paperbark is a tree.

Now it is to begin again, over the next decade some 300,000 will arrive, all paying their own way no more Ten Pounders.

We were quite happy here with things the way they are, just enough of them to keep the soccer teams happy, but why are they coming we asked.

Then I read the paper, 'Romania is now part of EU and the citizens of that country are free to enter any EU country'.

So I guess this mass exodus is to give them room!!!!!
    Happy daze John in Oz.

Life is too short to blend in.

    Yes indeed John
Watched the News on the mass entry about to happen here with the Citizens of the UK about to come in droves!
Don't know about making space in the UK as you mention, but possibly for a nice Weather change too!

Can do with more of the English here, and less of some of the others who just come in and do st--- all!
Most just end up on the Dole! ( No not the English haha)
    Cheers

We welcome all you English Citizens to our Shores!

john just make sure they are English and not British. just remember, any one can be British. they hand out passports to anyone reaching these shores, all colours all creeds. we are now the melting pot of the world. the border agency is a joke, they raid a shop find illegals and if they have no identification they let them go.

marian my love, I have always considered Scots, Welsh and Irish to be part of the UK, and I used to class them as British but would now rather think of them as English. To my mind, British has become tainted by the great influx of those who should have stayed in their own country. I still respect and think of Scots, Welsh and Irish, as I have visited all three countries many times, and had lots of great times, but I hate to think what they are like now. I am very sorry if I have offended you. it was not intended.

#8 Alf my lovely, No need to apologise whatsoever I have always considered myself "British" because of my Scottish, English and Irish blood and even though more than a few undesirables have landed on these UK shores [recently] I refuse to repudiate my inner feelings. I cannot comment on the influx in England and Wales as I have never lived there, southern Ireland appears to have a 'bigger' problem compared to the North judging by what my friends tell me. Here in Scotland we still have lots of space.......!
