Every morning the monks assemble for a chant.The abbot kicks of with "Good morning Bretheren" to which the monks chant back "Good morning abbott".After doing this every morning for 10 years brother John decides to get upto a bit of mischief.The abbott kicks off with "Good morning bretheren" brother John chant back "Good evening abbott" the abbott in reply chanted "Some monk chanted evening". you know the tune.

A guy joins an order of Trappist monks where he takes the vow of silence.He has'nt spoken for seven years when he gets a visit to his cell by the abbotts messenger,Brother Francis said the messenger you have not spoken for seven years so tomorrow you get the chance of saying a few words to the Abbott,your not there fro a long converasation just keep it brief.The next morning the Abbott asks well Brother Francis what have you got to say "the razor blade that I got when I came in is becoming rather blunt".Give Brother Francis a new razor blade.Another seven years go by and the same thing occurs.He go's upto the Abbotts office the Abbott says to him you have now been here 14 years it is 7 years since you have spoken what have you got to say."the blanket i got when I came in is becoming rather threadbare and I am cold at night".Give Brother Francis a new blanket said the Abbot.Seven years go by and the same procedure.Up in the Abbotts office the Abbott says to Brother Francis you have now been here 21 years and it is seven years since you have spoken what have you got to say "Well I dont think that I am cut out for this way of life" to which the Abbott replied NEITHER DO i AS YOU HAVE DONE NOTHING BUT COMPLAIN SINCE YOU'VE BEEN HERE!!!!

On 7 September 1960, my father, mother, oldest sister and I left Tilbury for Australia.
My parents had a deep sense that there was no better place to raise a family.
In a co-incidence that reminds me how much I will always owe our country, fifty three years to the day after embarking on that journey with my parents, I was elected Prime Minister of Australia.
Australia has been a place for people to realise their dreams - if not all of them, at least many of them. Australia didn't disappoint my parents when they left Britain and it hasn't disappointed my wife Margie since she travelled ‘across the ditch’ from New Zealand. My hope is that our country will always live up to the faith that its people place in it.
Today we celebrate the history that has made us who we are; the country that we love and the values and institutions that underpin it.
It is a great day to be Australian - Happy Australia Day!
