I recall we often had birds of all sizes stop over when deep sea to recharge, have a drink. Some would take food & water not the big ones though. We found them in some strange places too.
I loved sitting on the docking bridge watching the beautiful Albatrosses following us, so amazing & graceful looking as though flying was effortless to them. They by the way mate for life so the long line fishing industry has seriously harmed the pairs sadly. Best though was when transiting the Magellan Straits & seeing the Orcas in numbers following us usually around the Pacific entry-exit, an amazing scene.
