    Default Meteorology

Has anyone noticed the accuracy of weather reporting over the past 50 years or so. In our days forecasts were made up mostly from ships at sea in various parts of the world and trained and proficient meteorologists made their forecasts from the information supplied to them. Nowadays they have instant info. from satellites the weather is then probably computed on a computer and distributed to the general public. If I am wrong someone will come out and say so. However I don't see too much more finesse now with all the modern aids to what it was 5o years ago, as the same bad forecasting at times exists. Is this human error or computer error??? John Sabourn

I don't think its any Error by Either Human or Computer, they get it as accurate as possible but Nature takes its own course at times and blows all the Technology on the Head just to prove that we are but mere Humans!

No doubt I will stand corrected but I'm pretty sure that most forecasts beyond 24 hrs. are only claimed to be 80% accurate by the professional meteorologists.

i've always thought it had something to do with the weather.
however, where i live you have the english channel the irish sea the northeast atlantic and possibly including the bay of biscay, all converging together, and i think the forecasters are very very accurate, when you consider that they even got it right on D-Day by a very small margin.

#5 Other way round down here Brian. Wondered for a couple of years why I was always getting caught in these dastardly Cyclones. Make sure the master on your cruise ship also knows. Cheers John S.

Don't think Ive heard that tune Cappy. Is it something like sailing by that Scotsman Rod with the husky voice with the big following of screaming nymphomaniacs. Cheers John S

    Hi John
Rod Stewart was born in London BUT he thinks he is a Scotsman and lives in California, .
    How daft is that.
