Thanks for that John, you are quite right. 10,000,000 rivets, I would say it was a slip of the key board.
Hopefully may make it over there again. love the old ship.
I will be in San Diego in February, Sailing on Friday 13 on Statendam, and back again in March on 15th for a few days.
Hope I have better luck than last year.

This year is the 102nd anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic and we remain just as fascinated by the tragedy as the folks were in 1912, when the event occurred. Numerous tragic ship sinkings happened before Titanic and many occurred afterward, yet this is the one people research, write novels about and depict in blockbuster movies. K.
Rivets... For those who had never heard of cement boxes for various repairs for watertightness and other things, they may not be aware of a rivet, the usual sympton was a hairline crack extending from the rivet head onto the plate. The suggested temporary cure for this to stop the crack continuing, was it drill a small hole into the plate at the end of the crack. Although wouldnt suggest this be done at sea hanging over the side in with any sort of sea running. Although if accessible could be done from inside the ship. John S.

Further to that if it takes 2 men 2 days to dig a hole, how long will it take for the same 2 men to dig half a hole. JS
