Many people already work from home and I;m sure with new technology many more will do so, so i see it as a bit of a white elephant.What annoys me more than anything else than knocking off half an hour journey time to Manchester is the cost,they say £50billion you can bet your life it will be more like £80 billion by the time its finished.As I understand it the government are picking up the bill for this,this is the same goverment (Labour or Tory)that cant afford £14billion to pay for a nuclear power station and are letting the French and the Chinese into the country to own our power,what a joke.

Who will be able to afford the price of a train ticket.
I could not afford to take the two of us to London from Manchester a couple of months ago, best part of two hundred pounds.
It is cheaper and quicker to fly to London forty minutes Man to Lon. £70 return.

They talk of the need to increase capacity as the other lines are full to capacity. But in actual fact when the (and if) HS2 starts to run, all the other lines will see a reduction in capacity. Thus forcing us to use the expensive HS2.

Our last state gov developed a speedier system on some lines. On one from Geelong to Melbourne the time saved was three minutes each way. One guy wrote to the premier asking if the time saved, six minutes per day could all be taken at the end of the year??
