Jfk.
Its been on the news all day and on the radio and in the newspapers, asking the question where were you 50 years ago today, which is the day President J.F.Kennedy was assasinated.
Ok let us see where you were on this momentous day. I am expecting that all four corners of the globe will be be covered.
I was either almost at Pepel, West Africa or acutally there, not quite sure of exact location, on the MV Rippon, iron ore carrier.
Over you to now chaps.
John Albert Evans.
No prize for these replies sorry.

Re: Jfk.
Ivan,
I dont know anything about the terms and conditions of seamen signing on nowadays but i think they would baulk at the idea of doing a 22 months trip.

Re: Jfk.
I was at home awaiting the birth of my first son. He arrived 48 hours later and I delivered him here at home.
It is his Birthday on Sunday.
Cheers

the longest I was away was 13 months ...but you had your mates in the same boat .......today I believe there are so few crews they only see another being as they change watches but I do thonk they only do 3 or 4 months on then big times at home ....not for me ....the comradeship was at least half and more of the scene

Rob,I joined the King Henry in Liverpool the shortest trip it had done was 13 months I was not amused but i had to take it because I had a DR and I was married at the time.It was in a right state, the chf/stwd said the super said if it comes back in this state (Clan Line had just taken over) he would get the sack.Music to my ears i worked hard knocked it into shape and it came back brand new and I came home with enough money to buy a little house.I was asked to stay in the company as asst/purser/chf stwd.Clan Line trips to long for me.
Regards.
