Keith, This issue has been raised before, And I am in total agreement that these lagers that are in some cases 10% proof are lethal, It is beyond me how the producers of these beers are allowed to get away with it. Another thing that worries me and don't get me wrong no one likes a few drinks more than me. These alcopops or fruit based alcoholic drinks that teenagers start experimenting with, Why has consecutive governments allowed them to be 5% proof ? When you bare in mind the pint that most of us enjoy down the local are 4 and a half % proof. I honestly believe that our youngsters after the age of 13yrs should be taken on a tour of an alcoholics unit. They wont find over 60s crippled with liver damage the colour of pea soup, More and more 20 and 30yr olds are getting admitted. It takes no prisoners Regards Terry.

Last year my son had two 16 year old girls who were terminal because of alcohol abuse. They could not help them as the internal damage was too great. he had to tell the parents that they only had months to live, at 16.

We have similar problems here in Oz, but most of our strong grog is sold openly in the grog shops, overproof rum is one of the biggest sellers. But as the police will tell you most of the damage is done witha mixture of Vodka and drugs before they go off to the night clubs. Then Early Saturday and Sunady mornings the emergency deprtments of the hospitals are full of them.
    Happy daze John in Oz.
