Re: Wonga.com.
Hi Shipmates, Live now pay later is great, untill the debts take over the repayments, What upsets me is the young british couples with babys or small children who wait outside the cash loans shops, every thursday / friday with bits of paper maybe redeeming last weeks loan? then off to the food bank .This is happening all over the country we are going back to the hard times?

Re: Wonga.com.
Christ Brian post 20, that is a horrific story & nothing can be done where the hell is justice why can't the 'real' family have some say why is nothing checked out that you say? Is your brother able to communicate, if so can they not listen to him or are they frightened of the consequences?
Your comments about social workers although like so many of ours are possibly generalising but never the less with a sound ring of truth to them. It seems now days one of the flavour of the month courses to do 'social work' but they appear unable to relate to the situation when in the real world. This was said so many times to us over dinner conversations as to the mess UK is in. It is so trendy for young Missy from Hampstead to do & being able to say "I'm a social worker" also with a high proportion of young gay men too? The latest boom biz of shelters for street people etc staffed by oodles of pre 30 just + year old 'social workers with degrees' maybe one or two mature heads occasionally.
One guy told us at one shelter he went to regarding an inmate (: on both occasions the social worker he dealt with about 25-28 yrs old smelt strongly of booze & dressed not much better than the inmates?
All of those shelter places with a few exceptions getting churn & burn funds as they play pass the st person. One coming in & one going out + funds taken from their social security during their stay then all over again it goes as they are moved along, laughable!

Re: Wonga.com.
Here in Oz the last gov developed a policy where by those of little means and in dire situations and recieving benifits would be given tokens rather than money so they could only buy essentials.
But the amazing thing about some of the people using pay day lending, they all have their mobile phones, latest models, withh them.
Happy daze John in Oz.
Life is too short to blend in.
