I was talking to a Social Worker at a party I was at.
He said Poverty is when the people next door have a bigger slim TV, one in each room, than you have and you only have one , smaller.
Poverty in Children is when they do not the same as their mates, a mobile phone , Blackbury, these things cost 500 quid or so. And an I pad or pod. and so on. That is real poverty he insisted. What a load of crap.
They do not know what poverty is.
We had Real Poverty in the 30s and 40s.

Whoever that so called Social Worker is he should be fired,I'd like to know what area he is working in.

Agree in full John, What a lot of people don't realise is that a lot of our teenagers leaving school today cant get access to a bank account. Moldovans Bulgarians next year sorry lads there is no room in the inn. In two months millions of Rumanians and Bulgars are coming in and strait onto the benefit system and housing.
Yesterday CAMERON said he welcomes Turkey to come into the european Union. with more millons of Turks as well.
Also as Turkey is a `Thingy` country with borders to Syria, Iraq and Iran and a few others we are going to be swamped by `Thingies`.
Cameron should be Sectioned under the Mental Health Act.
Maybe then we will see Poverty when the Benefit system dries up and there is No money left.

There's Sharon Shoesmith just been awarded £600K she is the ex social worker in the Baby P case.She was head of child services in Haringey was dismissed over the Baby P case claimed the money for unfair dismissal.Polish baby Bradford died,young girls in care being exploited by men being fed drink and drugs and systematicly raped.Many children living in squalor starved and die and the same thing is said every time "Lessons have been learnt" but children will keep getting abused and die.So for a social worker to make a statement as you say, that is what is wrong with the system and children will keep dying because the social workers don't believe that there are children in trouble.

Re #15 , that woman got her award ONLY because Ed Balls screwed up on her sacking , she has shown little or no remorse for failings in the department that she was paid £113,000 a yar to manage . Why she was unfairly dismissed is not because of her inability , but because the procedure that she was sacked by was so badly flawed . Ed Balls error , not Shoesmiths inabilities .

THE two men behind controversial payday loan firm Wonga.com have made £50million between them.

Founders Errol Damelin and Jonty Hurwitz have seen their company grow to a staggering value of £384million in just five years.

The astonishing growth is mainly down to giving short-term cash loans to struggling families at exorbitant interest rates.

A household name through a huge advertising *campaign, Wonga claims it serves people who need the flexibility of *borrowing in the short term and can afford to pay it back.

But critics say they target desperate unemployed families, luring them with the promise to put cash in their bank accounts within just 15 minutes.

Many turn to the company after watching the TV ad which shows three puppet pensioners dancing to house music while explaining the *attractions of Wonga.com.

The company, whose *annual interest rates charges work out at 4,200 per cent,

I must admit 4,200% is extortionate but it does sound a lot worse that what it is.For instance if I loaned you £100 and you paid me back £5.00pw for 27weeks total payable £135.00 what would the APR be?

Social Workers do not live on our planet.
They are well paid and do nothing useful. It is a job for life and a big Pension at the end of it.
I am in a battle with Social Services at this very moment, only just posted two letters to two departments in
an ongoing battle to get my brother sorted out in a care home that is badly treating him. he lost six stones in weight in a few weeks of being admitted, The Home has banned all our family from visiting him, they said we would be done for trespassing if we set one foot through their gate. His sons are not on the phone list if anything happens to him . he could even be dead at this time and we would not know, None of us, four sons and a daughter, four brothers and sisters, and grandsons, can visit, the last time we saw him was three months ago.end of July.
The home has the Law on their side.because the law is on the side of the wife.
He suffers from a fractured vertibrae in his spine, this was given to him by his wife`s ilegitimate grandson. a convicted drug dealer. [Second Wife] 1st one is dying in another home. This violent drug dealer is allowed to visit him
We cannot get him out because his wife got him in and now has all his money and big pension to play with.
The Law says the wife has the power not his sons or brothers.
Social Services said they will do Nothing, it has nothing to do with them.
I sent three letters today , 1 to the Home, 1 to the Director of Social Services and 1 to his Social worker, All totally use less.
I have told them that if there is no solution to this then we are going public and to the press and TV maybe BBCs Watchdog Program.
So you see, I have no love for these bersterds.

I really don't think we've come very far since Whitfield used to charge us half a crown in the pound to cash an advance note.
