    Default ire on Thames

Interesting footage of a fire in an amphibious craft on the river Thames on the BBc news site, people jumping in the water to be rescued. Looks like a main engine on fire. KT

    Hi Charlie.
What amazing photos of that rescue, and how about the calm look on that lady rescuing the little girl.

hi KT this was one of the famous dukw's from the second world war. it only has an old V8 engine and one prop. it seems strange that these vehicles were used to transport troops from the LCT's to the beach in choppy seas but keep sinking in the docks and rivers. crappy drivers I guess. went on one in jersey, quite steady.

they used to run to the castle in st helier jersey when the tide was in, but seem to remember they were all original, not modified, got to be a problem somewhere, 2 sunk, 1 on fire ?, flat calm in liverpool dock, what caused them to sink, ?

They have some driving around London streets as tourist transport. We considered going on the river in one but decidede against it when we had a good look at them.
