Why would the cross of St Patrick be removed? He is the patron saint of Ireland, not just the Republic.

As-well as being flown on the focsle/head the Uinion Jack also has a white background surrounding along all sides. otherwise it is the Union flag.

Tha patron saint of all Ireland, St. Patrick, is believed to have been a Roman soldier who converted to Christianity. He is reputed to have driven all the snakes from the land. But the snakes in question were not reptiles but a brotherhood of persons who reportedly proscecuted many of the local natives. So much myth about the country it is sometimes hard to find the truth.
