    Default A Photograph.

I think this is a very unusual photograph and a beautiful one at that.
There are no prizes for guessing the location.
It was taken sometime in the 1950s for the National Geographical Magaizine and has only just been published.
    I hope you like it.

If that is a full size replica it makes you realise just how brave our forbears were in facing the elements in one of those, especially making numerous crossings in such vessels. It should not be 'God Bless America' it should be 'God Bless Britain' and her stalwart seafarers without whom there would have not been so many new worlds for Europeans to emigrate or be consigned to.

They were a breed apart, men like Drake and Raileigh. Uncharted waters to them was a challenge, one they rose to with out fear. How would the world be today if the Russians or Japanese had made the conquests they did? We should be greatful for thier achievements and dedication to the task.

New countries found that began the British Empire, now setting in the sun, that brought great wealth and culture to the British people.
Sadly much of that is now gone and one wonders what they would make of today's situation?
    Happy daze John in Oz.

If you look back only to the victorian times there was a great gap between the rich and poor hardly any middle class , only the unions brought about big changes for the working classes . it seems like the divide between the classes is begining too widen again as the rich get richer and the workers are slowly lagging behind .with all the manipulated ups and down of the economies of the western world it just makes the lower earners work harder for less .I was lucky with only a sec mod education I realized the american dream .what do the kids of today have to look forward to if they have no college ed ,

The current feral gov we have here in Oz want to see all persons equal. But equality can only be achieved at the lowest common denominator. So the bottonm ten percent must be given the chance to move up, nothing wrong in that. But the top ten percent, or maybe more, woul dhave to move down. Where is the incentive if getting to the top means you will be penalised?
