Thanks for that info Roger. 45 years later and I'm still learning. I did that run a couple of times on 2 tramps in particular, one of them included Japan on the run. Never heard the term though.

The idea of bringing back the old system is appealing. I recall typing in the names of two of the 14 ships I sailed in as well as Huntingdon. I saw the names however they must have baled out of the site early as there was "no appearance you worship". I even found a fellow who was in the same hut as me at the Vindi.
Thanks John, that's what Roger told me too.
ran into mal bowyer on here served on the australia star together
as for the north america to kiwi run did that a few times on both the southland and wellington satrs i think it was about 1985 they added pago pago to the ports of call last i heard the trade winds there was long deserted not even sure if its still standing
just looked on Google not a trace left all gone
just been looking through some of the old threads, and came across this one, must have been away when it first came on line. The only person that i have come across on this site that i was on the same ship as was Vernon on the Stirling Castle 1959 ish, but unfortunately we did not meet at that time. Vernon must have the crew list, because it was him that told me we were both on that trip. KT
I sailed with "Chicago" on the Port Caroline, joined in Aden, did Ausie and Kiwi and paid off in Avonmouth, Nov. '77 to Mar. '78. Regards, Tony Geeves.

Rocky,
Hi Rocky I was in Pago Pago last year, Didnt see any bars called Trade Winds, I went into Sadie Thompsons Hotel.
I will be in Pago Pago again in February. It is pronounced Pango Pango tho` spelt Pago Pago.
I will make inquiries when I get there.
Cheers
Brian..
