Dear Santa:
I don't want much for Christmas,
I just want the person reading this to be happy ...
Friends are the fruit cake of life - some nutty, some soaked in alcohol, some sweet - but mix them together and they're my friends.
So sending this on to all you fruit cakes.

I have just realised how quiet it is this Christmas, the advantage of having all my friends from the Khyber as neighbours, for the first time my evening was not disturbed by Carol singers singing one line of `Good King Wenslas,` then hammering on the door demanding money or we`ll put yer windows in,
A peaceful Christmas Eve.

. Or am I becoming a miserable old Barzteward.

I really must comment on what I think is the most delightful thing I've seen on TV this Christmas.
Have you seen the TV coverage of the Queen attending a Church Service and being handed a bunch of flowers by a little girl aged about 3 or 4.
The look on the littles girls face and her actions are an absolute gem.

That's why I prefer wine although not in pints. As a young migrant in the 60's and fond of a bevie after work I would go to the pub. As you are all no doubt aware the pubs shut at 6pm in those days and beer was served in a silly sized 7oz glass. So me and my mates had a saying, instead of "how about a couple pints ?" we would say " how about 20 or 30 quick ones." Ha Ha. Thank heavens they changed that rule. All hands were so p****d by chuck out time it was a wonder we could stand up; it didn't help with the love life either!:faint:

I just cut out the middleman and start and end with our national drink, sometimes called the amber nectar by us, unlike your aussie amber nectar,Ours tastes much better. I had a few drambuies last night seeing as it was christmas and I am saving the famous grouse for new years eve. Suppose I should think of the old liver but as I have reached almost 72 its not worth worrying about as I had a body scan recently & they said my liver was fine & thats after a lifetime of sticking to spirits, cheers mates.
