Hey John,
Firstly I am one of the good ol' boys who doesn't own guns, a rarity in this neck of the woods pardner.
No dogs missing as yet, primarily because those living on a water sites don't let their dogs run loose. As this is a private community (gated), we have an owner elected B.o.D. to manage the place, and rules that we the owners have to abide by; one rule is a leash law for dogs.
If a 'gator is aggressive and over 8 feet the local Dept. of Natural Resources sends in a hunter and the critter is killed and removed. The killer gets a $200 bounty and keeps (To sell) the meat, skin, etc.. There have been 3 killed this year.
I hate them killed, I recognize the danger element, but would prefer them relocated, after all they were here first.

I do hope Brian your exotic neighbors are all vegetarians, not like the gator, prefers a bit of white meat.

There I was just getting out of the car the other morning in down town Sunbury when across the road bounded a Kangaroo. He hpped all along the nature strip to the end of the road and turned left. Not uncommon to see some on the village green early morning.

there was a giant Crock caught here in the Philippines, this year, was put on display in a Pool, dont know if it was a Saltie or other kind, got to admit i dont like them, could never live close to them, same applies to Snakes, i once saw 2 skins of Anacondas for sale in Maracaibo Venezuela, well over 15 feet long,

Same thing here with the bears.
They do relocate if not a danger. i.e. near schools etc.

we just got our first gator in our pond cum lake . its been the first in 6 years that this development started and it was I that saw it . at the back of my home ,its only a small one about 3 ft now but there are loads of fish in the water so I,m sure it will get bigger fast I think they grow a foot a year ,we are on the edge of orlando and loads of wildlife black bear and bobcats ,in my last job as exec concierge in the walt disney swan hotel we used to put out a buffet of hot and cold snacks in the 12 floor lounge .there was nobody around so I munched on some medalions of turkey .later I told the chef that they were very tough , he said that was gator tail .yum yum .:cool:

The only wild life I have that get into my garden apart from 28 variety of birds, and Squirills and a few water rats that come in for the winter, I caught four last week with a trap, felt sorry for the little things, lovely creatures, but SHE gave me a hard time to get rid.
Every night I have to go out, in the rain, snow, and fog and feed the Foxes, I have four that come around every night at 1130. Costs me a fortune, but SHE says every time we feed them it is one less duck to be eaten on the lake side. We used to have hundreds of them but since the foxes came they were all getting eaten.
I wish they had a taste for asiatic meat.
