Hi George, you must have been on a newer one, We arrived in Liverpool on the Parthia on 16th of October 1961 and paid off, leaving the ship in the hands of the Shore Gang, After discharging she was taken away to Belfast for rebuilding for the New Zealand Shipping Company, and renamed REMURA.
I wrote a story of my voyage on her on Page 1 post #8 in Seafaring Stories in SWINGING THE LAMP.
    Cheers
    Brian.

On the Durham Trader we had a big guy UDH, his hobby was weight lifting, i think we paid off in hamburg, he took great delight in getting a porter to take his kit bag at the railway station KT

It wasn't so much as what came out of one feller's bag that worried me as much as the decor in the cabin we were to share for several months. We on a Federal Steam refrigerated job on a run to Tassie for apples. The steward I was to share with had done several trips and replaced the port curtains with some crazy 50's mod design fabric, plus a table cloth for the desk and would you believe it he covered the BOT bedspread as well. The one saving grace was a huge pinup of Anita Ekberg on the bulkhead. He turned out OK but had me watching very very carefully for a few days.

    Default Neil !!

I had a bloody good laugh at that m8.You reminded me i was on the 12 b 4 Watch on a Strath Boat i would go down the crews mess and make me and the second m8 a mug of bovril when all was quite it must have been after 2am one morning. I Went down as usual and we had 2 stewards who were lets say good friends ? very good friends. The sight that greeted me in the alleyway was one of them in his birthday suite just like this He had a fork in his hands rushing back to his buddy with a big nob of butter he kept dropping he was well oiled the mind boggles, I only ever ate dry bread aboard her after that Regards Terry.
