Bottle News.
Yesterday I read an article in the paper about a little girl who wrote a note to her Grandma who lives in the Channel Islands and she put it in a bottle which threw it into the English Channel at Bournmouth.
Five months later the same little girl received a letter from a lady living in Adalaide, Australia who had picked up her bottle on her local beach. It had travelled 10000. miles in 150 days thats about 66 miles per day, not bad for something without a sail or engine.
QUESTION.
Don't be shy now and OWN UP now, how many of you old sea dogs have put a mesage in a bottle and thrown it into the sea anywhere in the world. I have. I never got a reply but did you.

I did it once on my way to the Cape on the Dunedin Star in 1956, south of the equator. No answers. YET,
Brian.

I have to say that I agree with you Cappy. If it had been picked up on the East Coast USA it would be more believable. I think that the paper got its facts wrong sorry to say John. Mind you its a nice little story. We used to live right by the beach in West Sussex and often threw bottles into the sea. We never got a reply and sad to say never found one that had been sent from else where.

Bottle News
Lighten up gentlemen I find it hard to believe myself, all that distance in such a short time (66miles per day) but I thought I would put it on here and it would be a bit of light banter to find out if anyone of here had done it, the message in a bottle thing, I bet 95%+ have but are to shy to admit it.

I have put a number of bottles into the sea with messages but to date no takers. As to the first story, that rate is far faster than the Post can do, and without a stamp on it.

Happy daze John in Oz.
