Foreign born P.M.?

Quite a few recent posts have alluded to the possability of a foreign born being elected as Prime Minister of the U.K.. Voted in by a combination of a foreign born and descendants of an immigrant electorate/party delegates [?].

In the U.S.A. foreign born naturalized citizens (like me) are denied the office of President and Vice-President, by the U.S. Constitution (Art. 2 Sec. 1 [natural born citizen]).

Office... Position... Min. age... U.S. Residency Requirements... Citizenship Status.
Presidency... President... 35... 14 years... U.S. Born citizen.
Vice-Presidency... Vice-President... 35... 14... U.S. Born citizen.
House of Representatives... Congressperson... 25... 7... U.S. Born/Naturalized.
Senate... Senator... 30... 7... U.S. Born/Naturalized.

There is a Constitutional line of succession (Amendment xx). President - Vice-President - Speaker of the House - President of the Senate - Secretary of State, followed by 9 other Secretaries of Departments in a prescribed order.
I mention this as Dr. Henry Kissinger was Secretary of State under both Pres. Nixon and Pres. Ford-- and a W.W. ll U.S. Army veteran (Srgt)-- but as a naturalized citizen; born in Germany, he could never become President, and in this instance would be disallowed.

I would be interested in information of a similar nature from: U.K., Australia, N.Z., Canada, etc.. I.e., are foreign born nationals prohibited from high office? If so, is it by a constitution or statute? What type of ELECTIVE office CAN a foreign born national hold (versus appointed, such as Chief Swine Processor etc.).

By the tone of past posts, no emigrant to the U.K. could be elected Dog Catcher let alone Prime Minister. The fear seems to be that the indigenous Briton will be reduced to the status of a minority, similar to today's North American Inuit and Indian; Australia's Aborigines, N.Z' Maoris etc.. Or is it xenophobia?

I posted this thread, Re. British P.M. yesterday May 27th, at 9:05pm London DST. I checked at 1:50am London DST and I am off the new posts and posted only at the forum trivia site. This has happened to my last dozen or so post. I started posting sea tales on my thread "Lucky for some..." and picked up I was only on the new post, on what I call the front page, for sometimes less than an hour. I mentioned this to Jim Brady a year ago but I guess I didn't make myself clear. The same happened with my post " health addict", I mentioned it in my post that "hello, I sailed on the good ship Lollypop, does anybody remember me?" stays as a new posts forever. Now, after my rant, a question for the powers that be...Are you censoring my threads? Because if my posts do not jibe with your agenda please tell me. I enjoy writing but if I've p...ed somebody off let me know, I do have other things to do with my time. Last rant, Not too long a go Shipmate Rowger in Oz, Louis, Captain Kong and others regaled us with life happenings at sea and ashore, it was good reading, many thought so too, you could see by the hits and responses...it seems the tales have stopped.

Well Rodney the situation here in Oz is that anyone who is an Autralian citezen can become PM. To become a citezen if not born here you must be resident for three years. Problem with thta is we get right Richard Craniums such as the present PM.
And believe me she is about as much use as the proverbials on a bull.

I understand the Australian P.M. is an immigrant from Wales, therefor, English is not a problem. Under Oz law then, theoretically a non-speaking English person who, after three years can becomes a citizen, and could run for elected office. Once gain, theoretically, he or she becomes P.M.. Are there linguistic standards in Oz for (a) becoming a citizen, (b) being an elected official? In the U.S. one must satisfy a Dept. of Emmigration official as to English proficiency, and knowledge of civic resposibility, i.e. Government, voting, U.S. history etc.. The waiting period is, I believe, 6 years and takes another year for filing time and citizenship classes.

Under our migration act you must pass certian levels to get in, unless of course you come in a leaky boat. One is command of English, however it would appear the officials who are supposed to check on these things must have little understanding of English them selves. The number here who cannot, or will not learn to speak english is alarming. It does not however change the fact that the Welsh, and I have no general beef with them, sent us the current PM who is worse than useless, slowly attempting to turn the country into a socialist wasteland.

I just had a hospital letter with thitrteen transklations on the rear , they were Polish , Urdu , Farsi ( Iranian ) Arabic , Somali , Hindi , portugeuse etc , None were French , German , Italian . These translations , with the exeption of Poland were all third world countries , when will we make the use of English compulsary , I know it might upset a few , but why do we waste money on dual language signs in Wales , where people can all ( I hope ) speak English . We pander too much to minorities .
