Thanks John. The Third of September Nineteen Thirty Nine was my fathers 24th birthday. He failed the army medical, thank God which is probable why I am here today. He did serve in the Home Guard ( Dads Army )

So many sacrificed their lives (The Ultimate Price) for us , so that we would have a better future, may they all Rest in Peace. Was all these Sacrifices in vain though? When one looks at the World Today!
But we thank them to the last !

My Brother served in the MN through most of the war, he died in NZ in the early 80s. My memory of him was bringing a big container of coconut home on one of his trips,unavailable during the war.

Yes so many gave their all for our benefit.
We must be ever grateful for their sacrifice.
But yes, look at the world today, many would say their efforts were in vain!!
M<y father was on Gibraltar for most of the war, in transport division.
From what I know all there on the rock lived each day as it were their last, such was the situation.
How did the world ever get to such a dire condition as in 1939???
