The organisation of Titanic's maiden voyage, including the selection of her officers, was overseen by Charles Bartlett, White Star’s marine superintendent at Liverpool. At least ninety members of Titanic’s crew on that tragic voyage (about 1 in 10) were from Merseyside or had close links with the area. Most of her key officers and crew had originally sailed from Liverpool for White Star, and many still lived there in 1912.

After 100 years the Irish divers were amazed to discover that the Titanics pool was still full.

That ship has made more money by sinking than it ever would if it had stayed in service as long as her sister the Olympic.
If any ever get the chance to visit the Titanic centre , Titanic Quarter it is well worth a visit. The whole exhibition centre is not just focused on the ship, but also related industry in and around Belfast, and the living conditions that existed in Belfast at that time. A really great day out and a good place to spend a whole day especially when it is raining.

Now Lewis two points if I may, well three actually.
he is the only member on my ignore list, but sometimes the blood gets up.

Second, you would not want to go to Belfast just now, unless you area professional rioter.

And lastly, when the Titanic left Belfast she was in perfect condition, just ask Smithy.
    Happy daze John in Oz.

Now now John do not believe all you see on the news , not saying we are having a few problems , there is more trouble on the big Island. Protests and marches about anything they can bitch about. Look at the riots in Bristol last week was it? The women protesting about men being a bunch of bastards and accusing us all of being potential murderers and rapists. Then they attack the police for being heavy handed. But must say the scallies need training in the art of throwing a petrol bomb , I can see HSE getting involved and insisting on a 3 week course.
