Default A Bit of Levity in these Dark Times…

    The Good Old Days.

    “When I were a lad,
I’d be lucky if I got
A whole cornflake for breakfast —
And that were once a week!”

    “That’s nothing!
    When I were a lad,”
    Said the other,
    “I had to make do
    With half a cornflake
    Once a fortnight —
And share it with my brother!”

We had the empty box and we had to use it to light the fire.
Bread and milk for breakfast but the milk man and baker arrived after I left for school.
    Happy daze John in Oz.

We were so poor I did not have any clothes until I was three.

On my birthday I was given a hat; so I could look out of the window.

#3 . I lived at one time where the clothes off the backline used to disappear Tony you didn’t live in Hillheads did you. They were usually women’s clothes and the purloiner of such got the name and reputation of “ The Scanty Panty Man”. JS

You must have been a frequenter of the Black Horse, the Monkseaton Arms, and the Ship in Monkseaton then ?
Cheers, although Dowling Avenue would have been handier to Tiddly Bay. Churchill Avenue was just around the corner from my parents house.my younger brother still gets in the Black Horse. JS
