Re: Not the Singers we knew.
Last time was in 2019 just before all hell let loose with the Pandemic.
A changing city for sure.
But the garden on top of the three tier hotel building is amazing.
Like most things there done to perfection.
One problem, as you enter the lift your photo is taken.
By the time you get to the top it is ready to buy, at a price!!!!!!!!!!!
Happy daze John in Oz.

night time singers 2.jpgnight time singers1.jpg
I always liked Singapore the old & the new.
Dry docking in my later years I would always cover the nights so the young guys&girls could get up the road. Let's face we were not allowed to be hands on job wise so it was an easy shift the dock foreman always knew he would find me either in the work shop or control room. Knock off get a shower and escape up the road for athe day, more often than not I would head for the Botanic gardens. Peace and quiet strolling around. loved the Orchid display. I would carry a book find a tree and usually have a kip. Happy days.

In early 70s I had three Singaporean apprentices, one of them ended up as commercial director of Keppel Shipyards. I last saw him in 2015 while I was in Singapore on business, I was entertained in the boardroom on the top floor of the office block and was also shown onto a viewing area which overlooked the whole dockside, very impressive, never seen so many vessels alongside since Smith Dock in the sixties,

Re: Not the Singers we knew.
It certainly is an amazing place , never felt threatened while out walking about night or day. The place is kept very clean not a lot of litter or rubbish about the place. Can be expensive night out now if you fancy a few beers , but great food at reasonable prices or was last time I was there in 2013. Doubt if I could stand the heat and humidity now though, ah well have lots of memories of places I have been to most good some I would rather forget especially down Nigeria way.

Re: Not the Singers we knew.
Said to be one of the safest and cleanest places there are.
Bit on thew expensive side but look at London, not much difference in prices.
Tough laws if you break them, that is a good sign pity more govs were not that tough
The airport is one of the very best and even a stay of four hours between flights gives you the chance to see what an amazing place it is.
