Now that is what I would call a painting. Reminds me when I sailed on one of Corry's'

Something very very similar, but the bridgedeck was only one deck high and and bridge top was just above the gunne'ls, the funnel and mast flattened, but those ventlators and lifeboats would have been history going under the bridges. If the engineers had been naughty boys to us deckies we took our time raising the funnel again, that made them taste their own smoke, Oh! what fun days !!!!

Was that Cory’s of Cardiff Des ? I was third mate on a ship called the Brocklemoor one of Runcimans in 1958 sold to them in Leith . She had an Indian crew . The only one of the new guard I met was the Cory’s old mate who came up early for the handover. Never followed her future progress under Cory’s , but be long gone by now. JS

Corys were a collier company with HO in London, most of the vessels were registered in London, they made occasional trips to EC Canada for timber as did France Fenwicks, also a collier company registered in London, but they also made trips to the WC Canada for timber, how that paid freightwise I don't know, but it must have done, there may have been another Cory Company in Wales, but don't know about that one. Only Welsh company I sailed with was Constants of Cardiff, one trip was more than enough!

    John, Ivan.
I always thought that the Cory's I sailed on were a North Eastern mob, but in my book the ship was registered in Landon, I thought they had only coasters running coal from the North East to the power stations up the Thanes.
