Re: Classy v Ugly
The Maersk ship has a service speed of 23 knots. The Osaka Bay as built Twin screw Steam Turbines. had a service speed of 26 knots and during sea trials the Tokyo Bay achieved 30.6 knots trouble was they were like all steamers thirsty buggers. They were re engined in 1981? two 8 cylinder Sulzers. I believe they were an engineers nightmare, especially when doing a Unit as the engines were on an incline maintaining the shaft configuration as built when steamers.
