I did a couple of trips on the Napier Star hauling beef from BA, saw no evidence of bulkhead backing aboard her. Most of us would rather spend our sub along Viente cinque de Mayo.

John you often mention in your posts or suggest there were more than one or two queens about!!! Certainly never encountered anywhere near the number you seem to have come across. Maybe they just stayed in the closet???

Well James from my first hand knowledge of the UCL (That is the Ships John talks mainly about on Queens) in my days with them on a few Ships, there were always quite a few of the Queens about, and as has been said and quite fairly too, they were all as far as i can recall very good Stewards in fact some of the best, and also very polite towards other Crew Members!
As long as at the very first you made it clear where they stood with you, then all was AOK.
I had the pleasure of attending quite a few of there Party's on Board, within their Cabins and must say that each and every one i went to was great fun. They always sure knew how to throw a Paty!!

Yes the Queens of the UCL were just great at most times!

    Cheers

Each to there own Doc. Were they mainly to be found on passenger ships? Apart from a 4/th Eng who was as bent as a 9 bob note I had one west african queen as steward. I was well looked after whites always spotless as was the cabin. In those days the stewards would do your laundry as it was extra money for them.

Yes James all the UCL Passenger Ships had a few of them. Funny thing that the UCL Fruit Boats never did see any?? Wonder if the Banana Boats did! LOL

Not just UCL, P&O and Cunard had their share, but yes most on liners not cargo though we did have two on repatriation to Oz on the Paparoa.
Great workers and extremely popular with the female bloods, mainly worked in first class as wingers and bloody good at it.
    Happy daze John in Oz.
