I treat rum the same as whisky, got to keep trying different ones to expand my personal knowledge and preferences. Just gave away a bottle of Red Breast Irish whiskey, as it didn't suit my palate.

Ivan, Woods Rum is one of the best and overproofed.
We had some in our pub for a couple of customers.
Customs doing their annual check on measures thought there was something wrong with it, did not fit the scale.
When I showed them the label with the proof reading they were a bit miffed, not seen it before he told me.
Needs to get out a bit more maybe.

#7 can’t remember that one Bill , but as I spent most of my time with Seaforth working on the clansman as mate and any drink there was to the Navy’s requirement and was what was referred to as neaters didn’t complain. When I did go master on the supply and anchor handlers used to buy my own bond on the continent after asking everyone what they wanted at the same price as had to fork out for what was required . The bonds on the stand by boats did not econompass any alcohol only company cigarettes which were sold at shore prices , as said in another post I passed out 2 cartons 400 cigs . To survivors and the company charged me for them at shop prices . Be careful of who you work for .However I used to carry a bottle of whiskey which could of been sacked if known about ,but had good reason to Carry as often the crew were shanghied from the pubs and finished up with the DTs and I had to ween them off it. Every thing at sea is not always black and white. Cheers JS

Bill, I used to stay at the Cloverleaf in Bucksburn, for at least one week every month for over 20 years (it's gone now tho). I did sample the Watsons but much preferred the OVD. I knew a lot of folks up there and some of them hard drinkers and the ones that drank rum always seemed to take Watsons, but as I mentioned in another post, everyone has different palates which is fortunate as there would be standardisation of everything.
