Re: Things your Mum & Dad may have said
I really disliked that question as, depending on how skilled the old man on the previous voyage was at curbing the Sunday’s at sea rule, i rarely had more than a week home even after being away four months ! Refused to discuss it and didn’t pack my bag to leave until the night before. I was a great life if one didn’t weaken !

If you fall out of that tree nd break your leg don't come running to me.
When you dad gets how you will smile from the other side of your face ??
If you don't eat the crusts your hair will fall out. I ate all mine and am bald, something went wrong there.
Happy daze John in Oz.

Mine wasn't, one Christmas (when she was over 75) she got into an altercation with a bin man after he demanded a Christmas tip. He got more than he bargained for and threatened to call police on her for assault, but his mates on the bin wagon took the p-ss so much about being clocked by an old lady he didn't.

Re: Things your Mum & Dad may have said
My mam used to say.
What did I do to deserve you.
I once answered. If you don't know how you got me, you have a lot to learn.
That got me a clout.
The other one was. Some day I'll swing for you. [hang]
Going to skin me alive was another one.

No pudding unless you finish your dinner.
Say pardon, not ' what'.

Before leaving the Table after a Meal one had to say "Excuse me please Nanna I have had an elegant sufficiency of the numerous delicacies" Thank You
And then had to wait for response of "You may now leave the Table "
Again you had to reply with "Thank You Nanna"
