Four ships managed by Denholm Ship Management in the seventies

MV Troll Lake (The Goblin Pond)

MV Troll Park (The Goblin Glen)

MV Troll River (The Goblin Burn)

MV Arctic Troll (The Frigid Midget)

    I was 4th, 3rd, & 2/E on the Pond and the Burn

My first deep sea trip I was a Pierhead jump E D's M.V Dumurra she was known as the Philly flyer we ended up on the west coast of Africa east coast states run. Do not know why she was called a flyer 15 knots on a good day, Nice ship though.

    Hi Lewis,
When did you sail on Dumurra? I joined in May(?) 72 when she was leaving Europe for the East Coast run. As far as I can remember, the Philly Flyer name came as a bit of irony 'cos we were scheduled to be in Philly for (I think) 1 or 2 days, and ended up doing 8 days and very nice too - especially when there was a week in New York coming up. The guys made up a canvas with the name on it for the gangway. As you say, a nice ship to be away on. The word at the time was that she wasn't going back to Europe for at least 4 years, and I know of one AB from the pool in Rotterdam (name of Larry I think), who had no intentions of leaving until then.
