Hi Dave , I was a pier head jump at 3 am I think it was the 23rd November 1969. Sorry to disappoint you but she became the Philly flyer in 1969 and maybe before that. I did 8 months on her great trip and a good crowd. Captain Ness & Davy Hepple as C/Eng Bosun was Jim Dolley Jack Powell C/Std. Many a good night in the Virgin Inn. Had my 21st Birthday on her while alongside in Philly.

Did either of you get to go to the British Legion club in Philly, the gateman had a TF number and told them we had docked they sent transport down to collect us, it was only open on Saturday evenings we had invites to homes and they visited the ship , this was 1965 on the Mampong (ex Secondi). I just went onto that vessel tracking website looking for

    URANUS Current Position

I may forget about searching for that one for now as the rugby has just started.

Sorry Den thought I had replied, never got there. But in Vancouver on a few occasions had a few invites back for dinner. I met the Chaplin of the Flying Angel club in 1985. He was a Belfast man the Rev Joseph Parker who moved to Vancouver. His son Steven was killed during the bombings that took place in July 1972 a nice man , his son was 14 years old. His son was one of the 11 that died that day. He came down to the ship in a mini bus and and we did a sight seeing tour around the city.
