Most places, certainly in Scotland... towns, village's etc tend to have organized firework displays [health & safety] in their local parks with donations for the elderly Christmas foodie bags and other charities.

Marion, coal OMG you will be visited by the "greens' if you continue with such practices.
Mind you how you can see the new year in with a wind mill or a solar panel may well be a problem, well for some.
