There was a guy who left here from Oz on his Oz passport.
Got to Heathrow and saw the crowds so decided to go through the EU gate with his British passport.
Where did you get on asked the guy in immigration.
When he told him he discovered a big fine was due.
At that time you could not leave on one and arrive on another.

#59 must add to the previous post that I think I left the Uk and arrived Canada under the auspices of a landed immigrant as had the medical that one would have had. This included chest X rays, blood tests for I assume VD, general health assessment which was the only GP I saw in london, the others were Harley street and round the corner in German Street where
The monied people go for privacy as regards VD . I wasn’t paying so didnt matter. However when I emigrated to Oz in 1991 the same ritual which now included AIDS. These I had to pay myself. Makes one wonder about illegal immigrants already TB has reared its ugly head again, VD you won’t hear about but would imagine it is on the rise judging by the advertising in doctors surgeries about tests for such being free. In general we appear to live in a more unhealthy world today before this mass uncontrolled Illegal immigration.To hell with the do gooders if they are so keen to open our borders, they should go and live in their countries for a trial period and educate themselves. think that 75 year old lady in Queensland would still be alive if they hadn't allowed certain people to emigrate to Us. Stabbed in the chest while going to her car with her six year old grand daughter, the scumbags then stole her car, they where caught within 24 hours, a fifteen year old went to the police station, the local could-red gentleman who appears to be some sort of person looking after the African colored people there said not to condemn all of us, if they hadn't been allowed in she would be still alive.

Most found in people with African background.

I think during and shortly after the war it was one of the biggest killers medically in the UK before it was eradicated. Now as you say it has come back ? What do the people who advocate the no borders advocate now. Not my fault I suppose ? Should quarantine the lot of then on the island of St. Helena , if it was good enough for Napoleon it should be good enough for them. If they want assistance then apply to the French version of Silver Chain.JS

London has been called the TB capital of the world for many years now.

#166 well with London the TB capital and Edinburgh being the drug capital who needs the E.U. Or maybe they were part of the problem.? JS

#166. Johnny when I emigrated permanently my chest X-rays showed shadows on both lungs and there was some dispute with the Australian Immigration Authority’s. Fortuanetley my doctor was of the old school and put forward the fact that most people of our era had likewise including himself which were worse than mine. This was due that TB was transmittable and as people in those days mixed sociably at least the shadows on lungs was a symbol of that age. I had to present myself annually at the local hospital here in Australia to have my chest X-rays compared to see there was no advance in the shadows for the first 4 years I was here. After that they never bothered. The same with mad cow disease they would not use blood they took from you to give to others if you had lived in England during that period of the disease. Cheers JS.
Saying that about chest X-rays on Indian crewed ships their chest X-rays were all part of their ensemble as TB was rife on the Indian sub- continent and am sure they had to buy them off someone who was clear ,as some of the pictures looked like those of a 16 year old and they were mostly in their 40/50s and in lots of cases older. TB was eradicated in Aus , then came the Vietnam war and the refugees brought it back in.

Have not heard of any here at present but sure as God made little green apples it will be soon.
Like many diseases that we were told had been eradicated they are still out there.
