Re: Tyne Dry Dock nearly kills me.
Early part of the family are from Sunderland.
Grandfather a ships engineer in WW1, his father a riviter in the Wear side ship yards and his father a chain maker in the same.
Some of the friendliest people in the country in that part.
Happy daze John in Oz.
Life is too short to blend in.

Mackems
‘Mackems’ could quite easily be the shipbuilders who made the ships and ‘Tackems’ the sailors who took them out to sea.
Not the version told to me by Geordies but, best for here and now.

A fave pic of my late mum visiting my late father on his ship on the Tyne,
she always said it was my first visit but, just before being born.
